Tender Sweet Sibling Love

sweet-sibling-moment.jpg

Meet little miss M and her big brother A. This was a fun session. Little Miss M was such a sweet little girl and to the session her big brother came along. He was a very caring brother. He kept an eye on her the whole time, from feeding her a bottle if she needed it, or made her smile and be a in a good mood. I think you can really see the sweet sibling love from both of them in this photograph.

I also love this one where is so happy with her blanket. She looks like a little ray of sunshine!

Shiny Happy People….

sweet-b.jpg

Meet happy and sweet little B. Every time I look at her photographs I think about that REM song , shiny happy people. She was so happy the whole time and had the most contagious smile I had seen in a long time.

b-happy.jpg

Also she takes after her pretty mom with that long gorgeous hair. She definitely has lot of hair for being just a baby and only about five months old in these photographs.

During our session little B also impressed us by sitting up by her self for the first time. She was quite  happy about it as well!

If you would like beautiful portraits like these of your child. Contact me to set up a session time. I am currently booking for end of November and early December at this point.

Outside Fun

crawler.jpg

I had this session with these two siblings and their parents. It was when it was a hot as a summer day outside, but we still got many fun moments captured. Little sister was just about to take off and was not sure if crawling after all was faster then trying to walk her self.

happy-cicada.jpg

I love this little one where J is climbing up on a fence and is so happy to see the Cicada. He was so happy and was like a true boy that loves the outdoors with bugs and all!

The Joy of Motherhood-Maternity Session

family-four.jpg

This beautiful lady is expecting her fourth child. Along to the maternity session came her family. They kids were so well behaved and cooperative. The session went so smoothly and easy.

sisters-w-mom.jpg

We actually had quite the fun time during our session. Here is a great tip , in order to get the little ones to cooperatively touch mom’s belly during a photo session. Have them peel off pieces of scotch tape from mom’s tummy. Worked like a charm!

siblings-to-be.jpg

If you are pregnant and would like to schedule a maternity session with Anna-Karin’s photography to document this special stage. Contact me to set up your time (www.annakarinsphotography.com). It is best to plan ahead and book in advance as my schedule tend to be filled about about 3-4 weeks in advance.

Mom & Me

j-on-the-floor.jpg

Here is sweet little J. She was the happiest little one during her last session. Just smiled and was so content playing on the floor in my studio.

Here I got some of her and her beautiful mom together. It was so much fun to see them interact during our session. I am sure they will have so many special mom and daughter moments in the future. Just glad I was able to be part of this one.

I  was behind in blogging during the time right after the hurricane when little internet connection. So right now I am trying to get caught up and get everyone included that has had a session with me recently.

We Got Slammed By Gustav!

Well it has been a week since I last wrote and lots has happened since then. We really got slammed by Gustav. The whole Baton Rouge area is in rough shape and many areas still don’t have power and will not for maybe about three weeks or so. That is very rough considering the heat we do get down here at this time of the year and then no power or AC .

the-tree2.jpg

For us personally we did survive Gustav but our house did not do to well. Our neighbors tree crushed our roofs and a branch went through the bedroom window. It also came through the ceiling in our bathroom.
Then before long water was pouring in through the ceiling in all our bedrooms.

broken-ceiling.jpg

Our house is not habitable as of now and we had to evacuate. The pictures here were taken right after it happened and after it stopped raining. It has since gotten worse where the ceilings are falling in. Our insurance company is being very helpful and we just got an apt actually right next to my studio. We will be staying there while our house is renovated. We have been rather busy this past week trying to empty our house and see what can be saved from the damage. If you are waiting for either your photographs to go online or your print order to come in. I am working on that and hope to be able to tend to that asap. This recent hurricane situation has put me and my family’s normal  schedule a little bit off track for now.

broken-window.jpg

If you are scheduled for a studio session in the near future we will go on as planned as my studio is just like normal with power as well. I am checking in with my on-location places to see how they fared the recent hurricane. Hopefully everything should be fine.

I still don’t have internet hooked up at our new place and am only able to check the internet temporarily right now. If you need to get hold of me please do call me as you will be able to get a faster response that way. My phone number is: Anna-Karin (225) 284-6354.

Thanks to all of you that has offered to help me and my family out. We are doing great and thanks to our friends we have been well fed and taken care of during this last week that was a little bit on the rough side for us. I hope that those of you that are local and reads my blog are ok? I would love for you to touch base with me and let me know how you  and your family did in the aftermath of this recent hurricane. Feel free to send me an e-mail and just let me know.

I am hoping that this is the only hurricane we will get this season (don’t know how wishful that thinking is……). Baton Rouge area is having a hard enough time cleaning up after this one!

Other than that we are in a great mood and happy to be together. Thankfully what broke at our house are just material things and those can be replaced.

Thanks again for all well wishes. We are doing great!

Thank You!

I want to take this moment to say thank you to all my clients that were so understanding during the time I was in Sweden due to the recent loss of my father. It has been so wonderful to have nice and understanding clients who were willing to wait to view their portraits from their sessions. Those who were willing to wait for the delivery of their print order while I was away and willing to wait to schedule their next sessions for when I was back here in Baton Rouge.

I am now back here as of two weeks today! I am almost caught up with everybody, there are a few of you left to see your photographs and they will be ready in the next day or so.

I want to share some highlights from my trip to Sweden in July and August. Since I was there for a kind of sad reason, I did not take as many photographs as I usually do when traveling. I still got many great ones and here are just a few that shows where I am from and how the Swedish summer was this year.

I grew up in the country side and I had a fun time capturing some of the typical views from that part of my home country. Really close to my hometown, we found an organic pig farm. There were hundreds of little piglets running around with their mom’s. It was a fun visit and my little niece enjoyed it so much.

These pretty flowers were picked in my mom’s garden and a friend of hers that used to be a florist put it together this nicely for my father’s funeral service.

I grew up in a small town in the middle of Sweden. It is called Säter. This town is several hundred years old (and it is small….lol) . Every summer there is a little festival that celebrates the heritage of this town. I was fortunate enough to be there during this time. People dress up in clothing custom to the time of hundred years ago or so.

Here are just a few fun captures that shows the dancing and performing.

ox-dans.jpg

sill.jpg

These are chargrilled herring. It was yummy!

Swedes love to eat crawfish just as much as the Louisianian’s. They do it a little bit differently then here in Louisiana though. These are served on platters instead of poured on newspaper clad tables, but still very tasty!

crawfish.jpg

Some typical Swedish pastry! Swedish cinnamon buns, l love to eat those!

This was the first thing I bought when I landed at the airport in Stockholm. Although this photograph is from an adorable little bakery out in Stockholm’s archipelago. I had the pleasure to visit some dear friends summer house in Sandhamn and got to enjoy the beautiful nature and scenery of that island.

bullar.jpg

This is from Gamla Stan in Stockholm. It is the old town and is very well preserved from hundreds of years ago and a fun place where lots of tourists including me go to.

gamla-stan.jpg

Last but not the least, a picture of me in front of the Royal Castle! These two young gentlemen and their family is very dear to me. I used to be their nanny for almost five years. I started working with their family eighteen years ago and we are still good friends today. It was so much fun to spend time with them and see them grown up and nice and entertaining to be around. In this photograph their youngest brother is missing, but I also spent time with him and the parents.

Thanks also to all my Swedish friends and family that made my trip home so wonderful. Tusen Tack för allt!

Then the best part of this trip was to get to come home to my own family and my two sweet little boys. That had just started school. Here they are on the way to school my first morning back home.

Sisters

k-trike.jpgsisters.jpg

Here are a few photographs from a beautiful family I recently photographed in an outdoor session. I have photographed this little girl since she was newborn. The first time she was 4 days old and now she is one and half. It is so much fun to see how she has changed from the newborn stage to independent toddler talking and walking.

k-family.jpg

Little K and her sister as so cute together and it is so fun to see their sister bond even though there are quite a few years between them.

On a personl note, those of you following my blog may have noticed that it has been a little while since i blogged last time. I have had to deal with a recent loss in my family but am now able to to get back to business as usual again. Those of you interested to schedule a session I am now booking for early September.

Happy 4th of July!

4th-of-july-girl.jpg

I photographed this little girl this week and this is the first time her family will see these images. She is about to turn one years old any day now and the theme of her party will be 4th of July. I loved how the images turned out and I thought I would put them up just in time here for our national holiday to enjoy.

4th-of-july-girl2.jpg

I will be taking some time off this weekend to spend with my family. I will be back to normal work hours on Tuesday. Just wanted to let my blog readers know in case I am not able to return your calls or e-mails as quickly as usual in the next few days.

Happy holidays everyone!!!
