Here are a few from a recent newborn photo session. This family was so good and came to me when baby E was only a couple of days old. Mom was referred to me from some previous clients of mine, so she already knew that I like those babies in the first two weeks. I like babies of all ages, but when it comes to newborn sessions I prefer them in the first two weeks in order to capture those fresh and unique newborn moments that are only visible for a short period of time.

Another big reason is once baby turns two weeks old , many will get a case of baby acne. Some dont, but the majority do. It is a whole lot easier to photograph a baby with out that rash and the bumpy skin it creates. Also babies that are less then two weeks old are still very sleepy and willing to be put in position that makes for beautiful newborn portraits. With that said, I will still be happy to photograph your baby if you miss that precious newborn stage. However if you are planning ahead and would like some gorgeous newborn portraits like these. Then I suggest you contact me when you are still pregnant  and let me know you are expecting a newborn and want to scedule a session. This way we will not miss that special time. I tend to book about three to four weeks in advance. The age I prefer to photograph after the initial newborn session is between 4-7 month. Then the babies are able to hold their heads up and smile. Towards the six -seven month age, most of those babies can also sit up by them selves at that time.

I had the opportunity to photograph this beautiful family a little while ago. Little sister had just turned one and mom wanted both an outdoor session with brother and an indoor studio session for little sister by her self.

We started with an outdoor session at a plantation and a couple of days later a studio session.

We got so many great captures and both sessions were a hit. While we were at the studio for a session A’s little cousin stopped by to drop of a dress for her to wear in the photographs. While he was there we took advantage of getting one cousin image captured. It was so sweet and little cousin P just adored A and looked at her with such adoration in his eyes.

Since we just had Halloween this past weekend. I thought I would post a couple of my own kids here. (Yea I am getting the hints from my family members that thinks it is time to post some of my kids and not always my clients on this blog……). So here they are. Right before we went trick or treating, I took our boys and their best friends to my studio for a quick photo session. We figured once they get hold of a little candy, it will be downhill from there on and about zero cooperation in the photo dept. My two were dressed up as Indiana Jones and had a great time.

I also think my friend Michelle, who is the mom to my kids best friends totally did a great job dressing up her self. She was the wicked witch from the west. Maybe next year I will pull my act together and dress up as well.

Anyway, I hope all of you had a great time with your kids and family. We sure did.

November must be the month of love. I have three weddings coming up in that month.

I would have to say it is a perfect time of the year for a south Louisiana wedding. The weather is now comfortable and the beautiful fall colors are around.

Meet little miss M and her big brother A. This was a fun session. Little Miss M was such a sweet little girl and to the session her big brother came along. He was a very caring brother. He kept an eye on her the whole time, from feeding her a bottle if she needed it, or made her smile and be a in a good mood. I think you can really see the sweet sibling love from both of them in this photograph.

I also love this one where is so happy with her blanket. She looks like a little ray of sunshine!

Meet happy and sweet little B. Every time I look at her photographs I think about that REM song , shiny happy people. She was so happy the whole time and had the most contagious smile I had seen in a long time.

Also she takes after her pretty mom with that long gorgeous hair. She definitely has lot of hair for being just a baby and only about five months old in these photographs.

During our session little B also impressed us by sitting up by her self for the first time. She was quite  happy about it as well!

I had this session with these two siblings and their parents. It was when it was a hot as a summer day outside, but we still got many fun moments captured. Little sister was just about to take off and was not sure if crawling after all was faster then trying to walk her self.

I love this little one where J is climbing up on a fence and is so happy to see the Cicada. He was so happy and was like a true boy that loves the outdoors with bugs and all!

This beautiful lady is expecting her fourth child. Along to the maternity session came her family. They kids were so well behaved and cooperative. The session went so smoothly and easy.

We actually had quite the fun time during our session. Here is a great tip , in order to get the little ones to cooperatively touch mom’s belly during a photo session. Have them peel off pieces of scotch tape from mom’s tummy. Worked like a charm!

Here is sweet little J. She was the happiest little one during her last session. Just smiled and was so content playing on the floor in my studio.

Here I got some of her and her beautiful mom together. It was so much fun to see them interact during our session. I am sure they will have so many special mom and daughter moments in the future. Just glad I was able to be part of this one.

I  was behind in blogging during the time right after the hurricane when little internet connection. So right now I am trying to get caught up and get everyone included that has had a session with me recently.

Well it has been a week since I last wrote and lots has happened since then. We really got slammed by Gustav. The whole Baton Rouge area is in rough shape and many areas still don’t have power and will not for maybe about three weeks or so. That is very rough considering the heat we do get down here at this time of the year and then no power or AC .

For us personally we did survive Gustav but our house did not do to well. Our neighbors tree crushed our roofs and a branch went through the bedroom window. It also came through the ceiling in our bathroom.
Then before long water was pouring in through the ceiling in all our bedrooms.

Our house is not habitable as of now and we had to evacuate. The pictures here were taken right after it happened and after it stopped raining. It has since gotten worse where the ceilings are falling in. Our insurance company is being very helpful and we just got an apt actually right next to my studio. We will be staying there while our house is renovated.We have been rather busy this past week trying to empty our house and see what can be saved from the damage. If you are waiting for either your photographs to go online or your print order to come in. I am working on that and hope to be able to tend to that asap. This recent hurricane situation has put me and my family’s normal  schedule a little bit off track for now.

If you are scheduled for a studio session in the near future we will go on as planned as my studio is just like normal with power as well. I am checking in with my on-location places to see how they fared the recent hurricane. Hopefully everything should be fine.

Thanks to all of you that has offered to help me and my family out. We are doing great and thanks to our friends we have been well fed and taken care of during this last week that was a little bit on the rough side for us. I hope that those of you that are local and reads my blog are ok? I would love for you to touch base with me and let me know how you  and your family did in the aftermath of this recent hurricane. I am hoping that this is the only hurricane we will get this season (don’t know how wishful that thinking is……). Baton Rouge area is having a hard enough time cleaning up after this one!

Other than that we are in a great mood and happy to be together. Thankfully what broke at our house are just material things and those can be replaced.
