Meet sweet little A. I have had the opportunity to photograph this pretty little girl a couple of times during her first year. This session was to celebrate her first birthday. We choose to do it outside, as this age has so much more fun outside running around as they please, and I just follow. That is exactly what we did and I think everyone involved was happy.

Since this was little A’s official one year session her mom brought along a cute cup cake. It was fun to see her dive into it and enjoy a little snack during our session.

Here is handsome little J. His parents were so patient and waited for me to come back from my trip to Sweden in order to have his next session on my babyplan. I usually do it around 4 months of age, but due to my travels we were close to 5 months for J.

His parents brought along an adorable outfit that his dad had worn when he was the same age. It was in perfect condition and grandma came along to make sure little J could fit into it during our session. He looked so handsome in it!

Little J was quite the athlete as well. He held onto his toes real well.

His favorite part of the session was to play with mom and dad.

Here is a beautiful lady I had the opportunity to photograph while she was still pregnant and then again when their little daughter was only a few days old. I will say I am very proud that little G and her parents took the over three hour long trip to come and see me when their baby was not even a week old. The results were great. Baby G was very cooperative and I got exactly what I was hoping for from my session. It makes a big difference if we are able to capture the newborn’ness in the first two weeks.

Here is sweet little L. She recently turned one year and we celebrated with a cake smash. She loved the cake and ate every single crumb that there was.  She stood up and held onto the little piece of paper that the cake was sitting on looking at us as if she wanted more. The cake was a creation by Ashley Stephens. If you would like her contact information for tasty and adorable little cakes let me know and I will happy share. Little L is a graduate of my baby plan and it has been a true pleasure to see her change from tiny newborn to independent young toddler.

After our session, little L was so messy with all the cake crum’s and frosting covering her hair and body. She had to get a little bath in my sink at the studio before it was time for her to leave.

I wanted to share this beautiful newborn little girl. Her parents were so good and came to me when she was only a couple of days old. Because they came when she was that young we got many beautiful and lovely photographs that they now have as a memory of this special time.

She was so good for us and put up with all the different poses I wanted to capture from this session.

If you are expecting a little one and would like beautiful portraits like these. Please contact me while you are still pregnant. We will then schedule a time in your child’s first two weeks to photograph the newness of your little one. The first two weeks is the absolute best time to do this as when they get older then that they are much more alert and it is hard to capture the newborn sleepy images. Right around two weeks the baby will be going through a growth spurt, this time they like to spend longer time eating. This can make a photo session a bit difficult as baby then is not happy about being photographed but rather want to be fed. Also, many newborns get baby acne that sets in around the second week and can sometimes last for up to month. This is sometimes hard to hide when photographing newborns, hence one more reason to why  I prefer the newborns in their first two weeks of life.

Well it has been a while since I have been able to feature some of my clients due to all unusual activity going on. Since we are trying to get back to normal since the hurricane I thought it was about time.

Here is one family I had the opportunity to photograph in an outdoor session. We had a great time and I got many lovely captures.

These siblings really liked to be around each other which was refreshing to see. Hope that they continue to feel that was as they go through their teenage years,lol.

The two sisters had a fun time playing by the tree’s in the park.

Well it has been a week since I last wrote and lots has happened since then. We really got slammed by Gustav. The whole Baton Rouge area is in rough shape and many areas still don’t have power and will not for maybe about three weeks or so. That is very rough considering the heat we do get down here at this time of the year and then no power or AC .

For us personally we did survive Gustav but our house did not do to well. Our neighbors tree crushed our roofs and a branch went through the bedroom window. It also came through the ceiling in our bathroom.
Then before long water was pouring in through the ceiling in all our bedrooms.

Our house is not habitable as of now and we had to evacuate. The pictures here were taken right after it happened and after it stopped raining. It has since gotten worse where the ceilings are falling in. Our insurance company is being very helpful and we just got an apt actually right next to my studio. We will be staying there while our house is renovated.We have been rather busy this past week trying to empty our house and see what can be saved from the damage. If you are waiting for either your photographs to go online or your print order to come in. I am working on that and hope to be able to tend to that asap. This recent hurricane situation has put me and my family’s normal  schedule a little bit off track for now.

If you are scheduled for a studio session in the near future we will go on as planned as my studio is just like normal with power as well. I am checking in with my on-location places to see how they fared the recent hurricane. Hopefully everything should be fine.

Thanks to all of you that has offered to help me and my family out. We are doing great and thanks to our friends we have been well fed and taken care of during this last week that was a little bit on the rough side for us. I hope that those of you that are local and reads my blog are ok? I would love for you to touch base with me and let me know how you  and your family did in the aftermath of this recent hurricane. I am hoping that this is the only hurricane we will get this season (don’t know how wishful that thinking is……). Baton Rouge area is having a hard enough time cleaning up after this one!

Other than that we are in a great mood and happy to be together. Thankfully what broke at our house are just material things and those can be replaced.

I was about due to blog about some clients but due to recent weather situation here in S. Louisiana I will blog about our current visitor hurricane Gustav.

It is now about 10.30am on Labor day and so far we still have power. The winds are picking up and it is raining. Still not bad , more like a bad rainy day.

The other day when my family and I were out preparing for this hurricane I brought along my camera to document what happens in situations like this. We had already filled up our cars, but wanted to fill up a spare container with gas in case we have a hard time finding gas post hurricane. It took some driving around for a long period of time to even find a gas station that had any gas left. Most gas stations looked just like this one. Sold out of gas, with plastic bags on the pump handles to let customers know.

In the grocery store isles certain items were totally sold out. Like bread and milk and egg. Here are a few from our neighborhood grocery store.

Just in our neighborhood we have some preparing for  the strong winds by taping their windows. This is in case the glass brake, it will then not shatter every where.

Last time when hurricane Katrina passed through here we were without power for four days. We are hoping that we will not loose power , or I should rather say that when we do that we dont loose it for as long of a time.

A fun little anecdote is that I woke up this morning by a phone call from a Swedish news television station wanting to interview me as a Swede in the hurricane region. That was fun and have since also been interviewed on the radio. I shared these images featured here with a national Swedish newspaper yesterday and was asked to include a photograph of me and family. So here we are yesterday preparing by cleaning up all of our outside stuff laying around. Here is me and the boys!

I will update blog as soon as I am able once this storm is passing through.
