Once again I am participating with many of my photographer colleagues around the world in a blog carnival. We are planning on doing these on a regular basis, to stretch ourselves creatively and to remember to shoot something for our own imagination and just for fun. This can sometimes be hard to find the time to do when running busy photography businesses. So by participating in this blog carnival with other professional child photographers on a regular basis, we are making sure there is a little bit of time for our self and to have a creative outlet.
This month the challenge is shadow play.
Playing with his own shadow
I choose a couple of photographs where shadows comes into play.
The first one is actually an iphone capture of my youngest son. He has always loved playing with his shadow. I have photos from when he was little doing the same, and is still very drawn to playing with his shadow. This was him on a day playing swords with his brother, then he noticed his own shadow against the wall when playing. At the time he was playing this I did not have my regular camera with me but just the iphone and wanted to capture this moment of him, that to me is so him.
Since the topic of shadows is covered , I thought I share these other two photographs with shadows as a main part of the portrait. Shadows is not necessary a bad thing in photography and can help define certain focus of a photograph. These two portraits shows how shadows created by the lighting of the portrait actually accentuate the portrait more vs if they were fully lit.
